I Love Your Letters!!!

I just received a great letter from Dave, and wanted to share it with you all. -BD

TO: Bean Daddy

Dear Mr. Daddy,

Growing up, I had never had jumping beans. A friend of mine had some in the 3rd grade. I never got any.

For Valentines Day, my new, very good friend, Pam, gave me some beans. She ordered your “ten in a tin” family. We received 12. “the boys” we call them, but they all have names: Evan, Freedom, Conrad, Marley, Arvin, Ben, Donovan, Harvey, Indigo, Zydico, Stephen and Larry.

They spend their morning, in the tin with the lid off, on my desk. As they wake up, wipe the sleep from their eyes and look around, I move them, one by one, into the lid.

Harvey was “the big guy”. He jumped first and for a few days, was the first up and jumpin’ round.

Freedom was a little less motivated. In fact, he never moved much at all. I suspect this was from the hole in the side of his bean….hence the name.

Indigo and Conrad turned out to be the most consistent, jumping nearly every day. They got a lot of “lid time”. In fact, one day, Conrad jumped right out of the tin. I believe he was trying to make it to the lid on his own.

Marley, Stephen and Larry were all late bloomers, but always got in the game.

Evan, Arvin and Ben are a little less active. They may be more of the book worm type.

I worried about Donovan and Zydico. I wondered if they’d ever amount to anything.

I played music for them. Creedence Clearwater Revival. Bob Marley… they seemed to like it all. We had a bit of a scare after a swimming incident. Everyone seemed a bit too relaxed.

Too relaxed, until they went to spend the day on Pam’s desk, in the Procurement Dept. Everyone (well, except for Freedom) was bustin’ a move.

Now, we look forward to them starting their short, mothy lives. Wondering what they’ll do, where they’ll go.

We’ll keep you posted.

Thank you Mr. Daddy,

Dave
